SUNDAY SCHOOL (Morning 10.45 am )
Westgate’s Sunday Service starts at 10:45 and takes place on the first floor. Children and families are encouraged to join in with the morning service where a general children’s talk is normally included during the beginning of the service.
During the singing of the second hymn, after then have enjoyed a story, the children, and some of the parents who want to accompany them, go downstairs to the main schoolroom on the ground floor( where the congregation and Sunday school join for refreshments at the end of the service).
The first part of Sunday School is a time of singing together and normally a short video displayed on the large projector screen. The story, depicted by the video, ties in with the main topic of the lesson.
Once we have finished the singing and video story, we split into classes for the children to have an age related lesson based on a story from the Bible.
We use ‘Go-Teach’ teaching materials which produce very colourful and informative leaflets for the children to complete. There are often times of craft to help reinforce the story
This is a great opportunity to teach children the wonderful truths of the Bible.
All children are welcome to come and join us.
Creche facilities
Often, there are some young babies or toddlers present, particularly on Sunday Mornings and parents are welcome to use the Creche facilities to attend to their babies or be near their toddlers in Sunday School.
Morning and Evening Services are relayed to the creche facility and display on a wall mounted T.V. The creche is adjacent to the kitchen.
GOLIATH
A BIG BIG BIG Man.
How tall was he?
He was very tall. In those days you could not go into a shop and buy a tape measure,. Tape measures did not exist.
So, to measure lengths, people used the length from a grown mans elbow to the tip of the longest finger on his hand. They called it a CUBIT.
Sumerians, Egyptians, and Israelites used this measurement. Usually about 18 inches or about 46cm. (In some ancient cultures it was as long as 21 inches.)
For smaller measurements, they used a SPAN 
which is half the length of a cubit. So a span would be 9in or about 23cm. A PALM is another measure. There were 6 palms in a cubit. so 1 palm is 18in divided by 6 = 3in.
The Bible says in 1 Samuel 17v4
“And there came out from the camp of the Philistines
a champion named Goliath, of Gath,
whose height was six cubits and a span”

Sultan Kosen who was born 10 Dec 1982 so 42 years ago and was measured at just under 8ft 3in which is 99 inches or 5 Cubits and 1 Span
Robert Wadlow who was born on 22 February 1918, just over 100 years ago, was measured at 8ft 11in which is 107 inches, just 1in under 6 Cubits.

Goliath, was born about 1,100 years before Jesus, so he lived about 3,000 years ago.
The Bible records Goliath as being 6 cubits and 1 span which is 117 inches, which is 9ft 9in.
As Goliath lived over 3 thousand years ago, there have probably been many more people of similar sizes down the ages. In LIVING MEMORY there has been
